Just Fun

Thanks Don : December 18th, 2010 A great photography mentor and all-round great guy Don Gale died today. He lost his battle with cancer in the early hours of the morning. His houseboat workshop on Lake Powell, AZ about 7 years ago was the first one I ever attended, and so began my passion for landscape photography. I subsequently attended his workshops in Yosemite, Sedona, Zion, New England, Cades Cove and probably a couple more that I can't remember right now. He taught me a lot, always with great humor, encouragement and patience. He had many friends and will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family tonight. This short slideshow features Don and a whole bunch of fun characters that he introduced me to along the way.

Pam's 50th Birthday Fiesta : Pam had a major birthday over Memorial Day weekend, and the celebration was memorable too. As usual, family, friends and neighbors pitched in and lent their decorating, organizing and culinary talents and the result was magical. Happy Birthday Pam!

Bubba's 60th Birthday : On Sunday afternoon, May 15th 2011, Bubba's family threw him a 60th birthday party, and even though I'm sure he'd been looking under every rock for weeks for clues that something was up, I think he was genuinely surprised. No one I know enjoys birthday parties quite as much as Bubba does. Happy Birthday big guy!

The Art Critique Event : Some of my friends came by to help me choose which images to exhibit in the Saul Alexander Gallery at the downtown county library in December. Everyone was given a scorecard (plus food and wine) and asked to rate images on a scale of one to ten. The tabulated results are hugely helpful to me. Thanks y'all - it was a lot of fun. By the way, these images (most taken by Leigh - thanks Leigh) are very candid and not designed to flatter .... can you tell?
